Blair congratulates Fit Rovers

Rovers star Matty Blair congratulated the final Fit Rovers participants of 2017 yesterday as they found out combined they had lost an impressive 31.6kg.

The results from the evening topped off an impressive year for the Fit Rovers team, who have delivered five successful courses since the launch of the programme a year ago.

Since then, 130 men have completed the programme and between them have lost 63 stone, completed 226 hours of physical activity and shed 647.26cm from their waist circumference.

Impressed with the programme, Matty commented: “It’s great really that so many men across Doncaster have bought into this and are making a drastic improvement to their mental and physical health.

“I’ve been a couple of times now and I’m always impressed with how hard they work but also how interactive and tailored the sessions are.”

Matty presented ‘biggest loser’ Derek Bucknall with a signed Doncaster Rovers shirt for his impressive 1 and a half stone shed since the beginning of the course. Tony Winstanley also won the ‘Fit Rovers Award’ for excellent commitment; he won the accolade of a signed Fit Rovers shirt.

Delighted with how the first year of delivery has panned out, course facilitator, Scott Copeland commented: “The results really drill home what a huge difference Fit Rovers can make to anyone wanting to make lifestyle changes.

We couldn’t have asked for a better inaugural year on the programme, we have had so many successful events and it has been a pleasure to be a part of. I can’t wait to get started again in the new year.”

As part of the presentation, the group also celebrated their fantastic £1625 (and counting) raised for UK charity, Movember.

As well as raising the funds for such a great course, the group had a lot of fun sporting their most adventurous moustaches, so as a thank you for their generosity, Matty also picked who he thought grew the best ‘tash to win a watch presented by himself.

The group, who have come to the end of their 8-week journey can now join the Veteran sessions, ran every Thursday to keep the Fit Rovers community together and active.

The next 8-week course will start on the 18th of January with courses continuing throughout 2018. To book onto one of the free courses, contact the team on 01302 764663 / fitrovers@clubdoncastefoundation.co.uk.
