Club Doncaster Titans set for annual tournament at Keepmoat
Club Doncaster Titans host their annual Disability and Mental Health football Tournament this weekend as over 60 teams make the journey to the Keepmoat Stadium for the event.
Representatives from the likes of Barnsley FC, Aston Villa and Bradford City will battle it out on Sunday for the chance to win silverware in a ‘Champions League Stage’ and an ‘Europa League Stage.’
The second annual tournament made its debut back in 2016 following the partnership of Club Doncaster Foundation and Doncaster Titans and since then, the programme has continued to flourish.
Chairman/Manager of Club Doncaster Titans, Darren Warner is delighted with the partnership and is looking forward to a successful second tournament.
He commented: "I’m overwhelmed how quickly this tournament has grown since its beginning last year, back when Doncaster Titans joined forces with Club Doncaster. Since then we have helped each other in the community to provide access to football for any player with a disability or any type or degree of mental health through competitive events like these and regular training sessions.”
“The tournament has received interest from teams around the UK, even as far as Glentorran FC and Wrexham AFC, so we’re all really excited with what this year will bring and for years to come too really as it continues to grow.”
“We really wouldn’t be able to run the tournament without sponsors like Cook and Lucas Frozen Food Ltd., Warners Fish Merchants Ltd, Club Doncaster Academy, DHL, Andrews Cooling Ltd., Assured Fire and Security, Cook N Dine and T Quality, so a huge thank you to them and of course to Club Doncaster Foundation.”
Focusing on ability, not disability, Club Doncaster Titans are the club for any beginner, disabled or not who want to learn the beautiful game.
