Foundation Friday: CDF team up with Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust

In partnership with Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust, Club Doncaster Foundation staff will be at Frenchgate Doncaster every day next week raising funds for the fantastic cause.

With the aim to raise £1million for a cancer detector, Club Doncaster Foundation’s Cycle to Health team will be positioned in the shopping center with stationary bikes, encouraging people to ride a mile and donate just £1.

Over the week, the team will be recording how many miles Doncaster can rack up, which you can help be a part of every day at Frenchgate Shopping Centre 10-12 next week.

Cycle to Health Co-ordinator, Scott Copeland commented: “It is a well-known fact that cancer is the number one cause of premature death for people in the UK. On a day-to-day basis, the Health and Wellbeing team here at Club Doncaster Foundation are encouraging people to adopt healthier lifestyles to help reduce their risk of certain types of cancer and other diseases.”

“National and local campaigns have been fantastic in helping people to recognise the possible signs and symptoms of cancer and seek medical advice earlier.”

He added: “Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust have already been instrumental in improving the services and care local people receive and hopefully the money raised by this event will help them continue this important work.”

Each person that cycles a mile will receive a certificate to mark their success and the opportunity to take a selfie to help spread awareness of the Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust.

If you’re unable to cycle a mile, you can even nominate one of the Club Doncaster Sports College students or one of Club Doncaster Foundation’s Cycle to Health team to complete it as quick as they can.
