Junior Takeover Day huge success

23 April 2018

Saturday’s Doncaster Rovers fixture marked our annual Junior Takeover day, which sees children from Club Doncaster Foundation partner schools take control of all the jobs required for a smooth match day.

25 children took the reins on some of the most exciting roles at the Keepmoat Stadium including first team manager, player, groundsman, media manager and tannoy announcer.

Organised by Club Doncaster Foundation, the day got some incredible feedback and is just one of the fantastic elements to the available schools package.

Schools coordinator, Kelly Jackson-Powell commented:

“Junior Takeover Day is one of our best projects, and one that we are really proud of year upon year. The smiles on the kids faces are a joy to witness and just sums up why we do what we do. For many of them, it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity and allows them to not only engage with this family football club but also inspire children to explore future careers. Junior Takeover Day is just one of the many reasons Doncaster Rovers proves again and again it’s a lot more than a football club.”

Each of the mentors on the day made a point of highlighting how professional their ‘mini-me’ was, so a huge congratulations to the children who took part: Toby Hopson, Jack Bolger, Liam Thompson, Oliver Slack, Ellis Leone, Aliza Khan, Alice McIlwraith, Grace Porter, Robbie Oliver, James Cota, Zach Webley, Joel Diakiese, Ethan Stoddart, Alex Hopson, Jayden Curran, Methuki Imaduwa, Lottie Dawson, Samantha Bugg, Kolby Harmer, Dylan Pridmore, Lillie Evangelou, Alvvia Moran, Jac Bateson, Rachel Lumb.
