NCS takeover at Frenchgate Doncaster
The NCS team at Club Doncaster Foundation have taken over the Frenchgate Shopping Centre this week for half term.
Supporting the event are graduates from last year’s delivery, who are helping to boost recruitment and raise awareness of the programme.
As part of the team’s pod located outside Debenhams, shoppers can experience a Playstation VR, take a ‘selfie’ with a giant deckchair and play a handful of games free of charge.
NCS Programme Manager, Jan Budtz commented: “It’s fantastic that we can engage with shoppers in the Frenchgate Centre and raise awareness of the NCS programme.
“The partnership with Frenchgate will also enable young people to deliver social action projects throughout our summer 18 programme, so we’re really excited for the coming months.”
NCS is a once in a lifetime opportunity available to 15-17 year olds filled with exhilarating challenges. The summer programme at Club Doncaster Foundation is made up of three phases: adventure, discovery and social action.
Young people will have the chance to release their inner explorer, embracing the great outdoors with activities such as canoeing and ghyll scrambling as well as living independently over two of the weeks, boosting their CV and inspire the community with their actions.
