Students represent Dons Academy at Kingston Park

Students from Club Doncaster Sports College travelled to Newcastle earlier this month to compete in the National Cup.

The side represented the Dons Rugby League Academy and faced tough opposition, Newcastle Thunder at Kingston Park.

Unlucky not to progress into the next round, the side fought relentlessly against one of the top teams in the North of England.

Academy coordinator, Tim Ryan commented: “It was a fantastic experience for the lads to go and play at outstanding facilities against a professionally drilled academy set up.

“It was a long drive up to Newcastle but the squad did themselves proud, they lost 58-12 but put in an absolute shift.

“A lot of the Newcastle Thunder squad were U19 internationals, so it was a real challenge, and one they thrived from. They can take a lot from the experience and use it in future games.”
